Catch the sunset with a lamp

Although we often get tired of concrete cities and fixed urban streetscapes, and yearn for the poetic distance and the vast healing nature, we are never really far away from nature no matter where we are. The trees and grass along the road, the stray birds on the drying racks, the frost showers, the spring coming and going, and the sunshine carelessly dispersing in the air are all gifts of nature, but we often forget to see them and to feel the change.

As a reminder, solar designer Marjan van Aubel and his team have launched a crowdfunding campaign to fund the design and production of solar-powered products. Recently, they launched their first crowdfunded solar product, the Sunne, a solar chandelier that captures the colors of the setting sun.\


 

Simple and elegant, the 85cm chandelier requires only two extremely thin wires to hang from the window and requires no external power supply. The curved aluminum design uses a solar battery developed by the team in collaboration with European green energy research center ECN.TNO. The battery collects energy during the day and lights up automatically at sunset. Otherwise, if you need to use it, you can touch the touch button on the top aluminum edge or use an App to control it.

Studio Marjan van Aubel designed the chandelier in three modes to mimic all the natural states of the sun's rays: Sunne Rise, Sunne Set and Sunne Light.

Solar energy seems to be an unlimited free resource. Marjan van Aubel believes that "by innovating solar design, enhancing its function, beautifying its appearance, and better integrating technology into our daily lives, the spread of solar energy could also be the key to tackling the climate crisis".
